  15. I'm impressed with the "what3Words" geo location system especially for those areas where addresses are approximate at best. If you enter the string "tallest.highly.aircraft" it will take you to the position of my aircraft in my hangar. check out what3words.com

  17. Shouldn't that be in the "new member" thread
  18. Had the Kennedy/Krushchev stoush gone bang, by now the planet (if not homo [not very] sapiens ) would be recovering from a nuclear winter rather than tasting the first steps of an escalating climate warming.
  19. The Seneca Cliff argument fits well with the much more recent Jared Diamonds's "Collapse". Not much in the way of good news Bruce. However I do take some comfort from the second world war. At that time when our (and their) backs were to the wall the amount of universal mobilisation and production was truly phenomenal. Look at how many Liberty boats and aircraft were produced in very short time frames. Perhaps more outstanding was the German industry that managed to support a tremendous war effort in the face of severe restriction on access to resources. If and when the whole world gets sufficiently scared of the effects of our resource profligacy; perhaps just perhaps; we will display enough unified nouse to as a species/civilisation take the necessary action. Won't happen tomorrow however.

  22. It's all Kruschiev's fault Had he not backed down in 62 we would have had a nice little nuclear winter and things would be coming right about now especially in the downunder end of the globe
  23. One aspect of the anti vaxxers is that they rely on the herd immunity to protect their children a level of immunity in the population at large that has been created by those parents who accepted the risk/benefit equation and had their children fully vaccinated. A rather selfish and unfair stance to adopt.
