Alcohol fuels have a higher octane than petrol? If E10 is 91 octane, does this mean the actual fuel proportion has an octane less than 91 and the ethanol bumps it up?

Going against the grain, my 2005 1.5 Getz hated any fuel other than 91. Don't know why but economy dropped OFF with 95 or 98. Best car I've owned. Never missed a beat. After 314 000 kms (10 yrs) I gave it to my niece and am 12 000 kms into a new Isuzu ute (4X2). 4jj1 turbo engine. I've wondered about these "chips" and if they're worth it? Pretty expensive. Getting 900kms from 72ltrs out of the 76 ltr tank currently(8l per 100). Will let it run-in some more then go full synthetic oil. Have already put in a K&n air filter... Would really like to get 1000k's a tank but not sure it's possible...... Anyone running biodiesel or derivative ?

I look at it as a simple risk/reward situation. RISK: You get executed if you get caught..... REWARD: Get away with it and you live a lavish life of wealth, nice cars and houses. I worked in the same place (middle of WA) for the last 10 years. Driving the bus in winter, in the first few years, I had to start the bus, put the heater on and then go have breakfast to allow the ice to melt. EVERYDAY The last few years there have been no frosts/ice at all. Some years I would wear a jumper or coat up until December but now never after September..... It is getting hotter.......fact.

Last time I went to the RAAFA museum it was the middle of summer too and as there's quite a lot to look at, it's something of a day trip I recon. Fremantle and Rottnest are nice but within the time constraints too much time would be wasted. There is no "peak times" for traffic now. It is always "peak"! Value for money/time stick to a city walkabout. Cherry pick your venues. As stated above, anything outdoors will more than likely be very hot...... and not that enjoyable in the middle of the day. All you'll want to do is get somewhere cool........

SA motor vehicles would have nothing to do with your flying requirements. The RAA would simply tell whoever the card issuer is "put xxx on joe blows card". Thats it. The existing Governing bodies would still control your licences/ certificates.

I'm not advocating one licence for everything, just one (physical) card to place them all on.

I got asked to show my qualifications to operate some machinery the other day but didn't have the card on me. My excuse was that I didn't want to carry a wallet full of cards to only pull them out once every xx years. Wouldn't it be so much easier to carry all qualifications on one card?

Brazil has seen its first generation of wave power after a machine has started generating energy in the country’s coastal waters. The wave converter prototype has started producing power as part of the Brazil Electricity Regulatory Agency’s (ANEEL) R&D project. The prototype, which is located on the coast of Porto do Pecém, in São Gonçalo do Amarante, Ceará, has successfully powered all lighting, air conditioning and auxiliary systems in a research plant in the area. This development is an important step for onshore wave power generation in Brazil. ANEEL said: “This small generation of power represents a great progress, as the Brazilian coast presents good conditions for energy use, due to its proximity to consumers in cities with high population density.” Rio-based COPPE Submarine Technology Laboratory developed and installed the 50 KW prototype, which consists of two modules, each with a floater, branch and pump. Once fixed on break water, these contribute to a single set of turbines, generator and hyperbaric chamber. ANEEL claims the prototype’s “easy production” gives it an edge over others available on the market. An additional advantage of this technology is the potential for coupling it with desalinisation systems, ANEEL said. Desalinisation by reverse osmosis is an efficient way to obtain drinkable water from the sea. The prototype and research plant are part of the “Deployment of Onshore Waves Converter Prototype on Sea Conditions of the Northeast of Brazil” project.
