  1. To live on? To grow all of their food? to mine the minerals they they require? the land area they require for for water catchment?????

Wow, umm outside of QLD the rest of the planet is still there! Absolutely no shortage of resources or space. But this hypothetical exercise was only to demonstrate land area vs population, shouldn't need to spell that out. BTW with systems like aquaponics very little space is now required to feed a lot of people, food isn't a problem at all.

Metho give me your numbers if you want to dispute.

  2. I just hope that all those who think the population can keep on rising stay in Brisbane

You ever been to New York city? Or Hong Kong?

Space is a mathematical issue not an opinion so it's easily provable Yenn; if the entire world population were moved into QLD every single person would still EACH have nearly 250m2 of space. For centuries Malthusians like the above have been bleating about space and resources, these things aren't a big issue at all. Anyway if it freaks you all so much to think the world is overpopulated and that you are killing the planet you know what to do. Show us you are serious about your belief.

  3. In my view, this was effall to do with Islamic terrorism

Yeah you have a rather long distance view from pommyland; I'd take more notice of people that were right there at the time. And the words of the perpetrator who described himself as Kurdish Islamic.

VICPOL and the justice system are a pathetic joke. It's everyone looking out for themselves now because the government sure aren't. We saw the exact same thing happen in Sydney at Lindt Cafe also.

  4. In the 60 years since then, progress has made that world almost unrecognisable to us. Right now babies are being exposed to the world via mother's i-phone, carelessly handed over as a babysitter. Miracle cures abound for all manner of medical problems. Cars are sophisticated beyond belief. Houses include every possible comfort. Communications extend globally from everyone's pocket and the internet opens the libraries of the world instantly to all.So, of course, things have improved almost immeasurably.

    Yes, thanks to Capitalism!

However, the world's population is soaring towards 10 billion..

The earths resources can easily handle many times the current population and we have barely started to use the space. That isn't something to worry about at all.

The problem with mankind is not numbers but sin. People will kill each other off well before we run out of resources. You need to get to a point where you acknowledge the means and resources and knowledge are all available but there is a problem and that flaw is undeniable and lies within each of us.

I talk to many people from third world countries. Every one of them agrees that forces like corruption and greed are holding these places back and making peoples lives miserable. It is easy to see this in other people and especially in our leaders and to blame them. But it is more humbling to realise that actually the exact same darkness and potential to do wrong is within ourselves also.

  5. OK so you're on the side of the dealers, your choice. The Philippine citizens voted for and overwhelmingly support the war on narcotic drug distribution.

Also your Godwin invocation is quite last century and carries no absolutely weight any more. The guy was also an art loving socialist vegetarian greenie, so he has common traits with many of your Tasmanian neighbours if you want to trek that crazy route.

  6. Reagan's war on drugs, for example, which while popular with many voters at the time, has been a hugely expensive failure

That's because it wasn't a war. Rodrigo Duterte has an actual war on drug dealers and it is producing outstanding positive results and is hugely popular amongst Philippinos. Sure you might hate it because the leftmedia told you to, but the locals living there love it as they see the benefits. And all it took was to declare criminals who have no regard for the law or others rights as outlaws.

  7. Thank you Bex, I'm honoured you would say that.

Indeed it is utterly transforming of one's life the day you discover God is real, everything is different from that day on. You know nothing of it yet it's the best thing that ever happened to me and whilst I banter with the God-haters here it saddens me that it is only pride stopping anyone from genuinely praying and finding a response they never expected. Don't forget I've come from where you currently are, complete unbelief. Folks life actually has a meaning and a purpose, there is logic behind everything you never realised. But this isn't politics so back on topic now I guess....

  8. Israel is the only free democracy in the Middle East and on that basis deserves protection. Unless of course you are not a fan of democracies and prefer autocratic rule, then the others around it would appeal.

  9. Ah the old "atheists do not have scientific minds" chestnut!

You appear to misunderstand. Of course some Atheists are and have been successful scientists but my point is that in closing ones mind and refusing to even countenance the possibility of any alternative views is the very antithesis of science.

The blocking of ears seems to be becoming increasing common these days especially amongst the left where it is extended to silencing alternative views and opinions. The hard left in particular is becoming not only totalitarian but increasingly anti-science e.g. GMO, fracking, nuclear energy, vaccinations etc.

  10. .. that's AGAINST, indepedence for Hong Kong?

Lenin knew all about useful idiots. Same with the leftist thugs violently protesting against democracy in the USA.

As the residents of Venezuela found out you can democratically vote for a dictator - or to give your leader dictatorial powers - but it only works in one direction, the reverse isn't a thing.

  11. And the Earth is flat. The bible says so.

The Bible says the earth is round - a 'circuit' or 'circle' which is 'suspended on nothing' Job 26v7. And this was written more than 2500 years ago.

Only leaves two options for you doesn't it Bikki? Personally I'm leaning towards ignorance as a scholar you aren't.

By definition the atheist mind is a non-scientific mind.
