  1. Or think Ralph Sarich - it appears that the technical excellence of his engine was squeezing money out of BHP - A lot of money invested and little to show.
  2. 3. No debt - well yes but also no assets as the family silver (Telstra et al) had all been flogged off. A surplus is only Income over Expenses NOT Assets over Liabilities and in most cases with all government is a rundown of the asset base which means the tools of society are becoming useless. Have you checked your footpath lately?
  3. Or the fag companies using their marketing and legal budgets (both huge) to forward sell to wholesalers to keep the figures high. The survey was done by / at the behest of the fag companies - henceforth to be known as faggots.
  4. Most of his backbenchers are very revolting. I am sure that the party knows that they are nasty little thugs just busting for a fight - even among themselves.
  5. as opposed to the rich righties who want to pay no taxes at all so they can employ more peasants on slave wages to bring about a better society.

  7. The Green Energy Finance Corporation was actually making a profit. Perhaps the banks and sharks wanted a slice of the action and leaned on Tony. Governments making a profit? Why not? Social good and money for other things - sounds pretty good to me!
  8. I don't want to put words into your mouth but the implication I got from your prior post was that trucks were taking in pollution and reducing it. "For the past few years, new motor vehicle emissions have been lower that ambient in urban areas, therefore cleaning up the air they drive in," I can't see a truck putting out less CO2 than it takes in while the engine is going. The major components of exhaust gases are CO2 and H2O in greater concentrations than the surrounding air. Exhaust gases can kill. Ambient air is pretty clean. Yes I do understand that NOx and particulate emissions are going down due to better engines, better fuel and exhaust scrubbing but by and large CO2 emissions are a function of fuel consumption. Any ambient CO2 will pass through an engine and be added to the CO2 produced by that engine.
  9. We actually export energy to other countries, mainly underpriced electricity embodied in part or fully refined products such as aluminium. we keep the pollution, they get cheap electricity by way of refined aluminium. I am not sure about tin and zinc smelting these days. We import electricity by having other countries refine our exported iron ore, uranium, copper etc.
  10. Air cleaning motor vehicles? Do you have an authoritative reference TP?
  11. there is a physical limit/finite amount of co2 that each tree can eat. the only way that trees can eat more CO2 is to plant more trees (increase the tree stomachs) Bob wanted lots more trees but there are those who want massive tree felling and land clearance. This reduces the capacity of trees to eat CO2. Cutting down more trees to pulp into cardboard boxes isn't so smart as thr life of a cardbord box before decomposition to CO2 is very short and using the byproduct of timber felling for firewood produces more CO2.
  12. I got my tax back to compensate me for the crap going up into the air. If the pollution is reduced the tax is reduced, my quality of life is improved and so I get less compensation. Simple - except for those in areas where they do and don't have coal fired power stations. Those that live near a power plant put up with a lot of pollution and not much compensation but those a long way from power stations don't get the pollution but do get the compensation. I used to live in central Newcastle and the atmospheric filth and particulates were incredible. Much better now that BHP has gone. A grant to clean up will encourage cheating, a tax if they don't really focuses their minds on the bottom line. A price on carbon is a price on pollution.
  13. While it is energy up there the major impact down here is radio wave emissions that bugger up comms.
  14. Have you considered what types of gasses and particulates are thrown up in an eruption and whether the gases and particulates are long or short acting and whether they contribute, in the long term, to the sum of "greenhouse" like emissions in the atmosphere? Or do volcanic emissions, in the short term, contribute to global cooling by acting as umbrella?
  15. The BBC is suppressing the Welsh????? An outrage!! Wasting time and money when the Anglo Saxons and Normans are doing such a fantastic without any help.
  16. No offence taken Phil and in the same for mine. I was merely indicating that win or lose it is neither here or there to me and that we too, are laughing at our own expense. I have more problems at home with my own family - my son have started following Rugby. I did my best to bring them up the right way, hockey, handball and hurling, but he has gone off and joined the heathen infidel. Keep well, and if you have a bit of time perhaps we could meet up at Croke Park in Dublin on 6th September for the Hurling Grand Final and discuss the finer points of flying over a Guinness or Beamish or three. I will be heading back through UK to hand deliver some Oz stamps and coins to my cousin to add to his growing collection of ashes memorabilia from Australia. The recovery of the ashes will surely add to his joy. Keep well, Col
  17. Listen Phil, Very few of us actually give a damn. The vast majority of us have better things to do - flying, drinking etc (but not flying and drinking) There are probably only three groups of who listen to cricket - politicians, because parliamentary broadcasts are even more boring - farmers so that they know when lunch is on & - babies because their mothers know that the naff commentary will keep the baby comatose - but it does cause the kid to crap its nappy Cricket, it's your sport (you english) play it your way and have a ball. If it's not hockey, handball or hurling I'm not really interested. Keep well
  18. We know what you are trying to do here Phil. You are attempting to sow discord in Australia by attempting to get someone to suggest the Tony Abbott is a bigger prat than David Cameron. Well it is not going to work. Tony Abbott is a fine upstanding young man who has the whole country behind him - 4Square and shoulder to shoulder. Tony's government has been described as the best and most efficient the country has ever seen. Some have been likening him to Billy McMahon, another stalwart of the Liberal Party. With a cheer squad as diverse as Bronwyn Bishop, Barnaby Joyce, Amanda Divine, Piers Ackerman, Neddy Smith, George Pell, Andrew Bolt, Alan Jones, the Liberal Country Party Right Wing FlimFlams and the entire giggle squad from News Ltd you know that this man is the real deal.
  19. Rough end? Would you have preferred to starve to death on the prison hulks or swing from a gibbet at lonely cross roads as a warning to other sheep stealers and poachers?
  20. The art of war has always been - keep your supply lines short. Steal (appropriate, expropriate, borrow, relieve) the local's wine, women, gold, land and food and put the rest to the torch. Your 5xGF was the quartermaster to the great unwashed - not that he had much choice in the matter.
  21. If the Brits were serious about illegal immigration they would start with the real problems. First, kick out all the Normans - send them back to France. Second, get ride of all the Angles, Saxons, Jutes and Fresians. Then round up all the Vikings and send them home as well. Keep well.
  22. I wear the jersey because it has a pocket in the back for stuff and the nicks because they have a padded bum. I have even considered wearing them in the jabiru or on a long flight with qantas
