I'm so excited! My commercial licence arrived in the mail today. Oh what a life changing thing it is to have one.
Local sorties from A to B, helping people get on with business, holidays, education, sport. Maybe some interstate trips with those overnight stays that the old timers talk about. International jaunts are out of the question. After all, a Bus can't float.
I'll have to practise my singing - "the wheels on the bus go roung and round ...."
What? No. its not an ATPL, it's Department of Transport Authority to Drive a bus. I've always said I can't fly. I'm an emu, after all.
OME
What are your plans?
Or have you already got a dream job?
Mine flying scenic flights in a float plane....

I remember being told 20+ years ago a bloke from adelaide drive a Mitsubishi colt to Sydney on 2litres of fuel - rest was from water
Mitsubishi bought out his idea for $55M
Not sure how true this is
-
So lets apply this to the sky...
Small aircraft and especially microlights - get the F___ out of our way says the "bigger", faster, commercial operators (obviously more important planes)

Fell off my bike on the weekend
- got squeezed between the car and kerb
- I can only guess the driver doesn't see me - despite a skinny bike lane painted along the side leading up to the roundabout... Where it occurred
Next time im hogging the WHOLE LANE!

Got this one via email:
Hopefully, this guy will run for office. He is laid back, looks intelligent, and appears to have what most current politicians lack.

Lets consider another industry ... The construction industry ....
The cost of construction here is 4x that of say Singapore
If we were to build buildings and sell them overseas (like a car) - we wouldn't ever sell any
The cost of wages in Australia means construction costs are high ..... Charge out rates for an electrician is $80/hr!
OR is it a case of everyone overseas is underpaid --- of course they are --- so how can Australia be competitive --- we can't
If property prices weren't high, it would not work at all.... And it only works because of the foreign investors
The government never bothered to bail out struggling construction companies - and plenty of people lost their jobs. (the week before Xmas in my case - terminated with NO redundancy!) happily the company who did that is now gone - serves you right!!!
The school spending spree was a complete joke!!!
Schools didn't get to choose what they wanted - they just got a hall whether they wanted it or not
AND it cost double (or triple) what it would have had the work been directly contracted.... And the builders who actually did the work made next to nothing!!!!

It's just occurred to me many good things start with "F"
I.e
Free
Flying

One thing about this great country ( which a lot of people think is good enough to emigrate here), is we can always go and do something for ourselves. Set our own wages, conditions, hours.....
Id love to do so.... But having enough cash saved up to try is a real stumbling block...

I'll probably end up at bunnings
At least not far to go to work

This photo taken by JG3 is one of the most incredible things I have seen photographed in Australia, https://picasaweb.google.com/woblywallaby/WestAustraliaTrip?authkey=Gv1sRgCJbzvM23iO6-vgE#5616927086484502818, I have talked to a few people about it but never got close to asatisfactory answer. Always think to ask John on the way home after having seen him.
I reckon someone's had a go at farming there

That's brilliant!Tassie included.

I know if I had done as your mother said, I would have been miserable....

As I was walking home, this fly flew laps around my head despite the wind blowing hard! Couldn't get rid of it!
Even though the fly is small, the wind seemed no problem to it! It's way to strong for Microlight flying.
I have been told that small insects and flies actually swim through the air, because to them, the air is very thick
If that's true, they are very good at it because they can fly in strong wind and change direction instantly.... I guess very little inertia to deal with and plenty of air friction!

Fair dinkum F_T... If that idea takes off, I'm moving next door to you and taking up punk rock bagpipe playing....
It would be better than the whistle activated ones...
-
Yeah, I guess not niche enough...
I'll keep think'n

Taking everyones ideas on board, here is the new years resolution.
ill start 5 businesses
1st - a dating website - covering everything from casual affairs to serious love seekers. That will bring in the cash to fund the next idea.
2nd - a website that allows people to connect and get together to work on a project they are doing ... Call it "lets_get_together" - bit like this forum helping get business ideas together or building a plane etc but much better than facebook
3rd - an app that gives you a cute pet (of your choice) to feed and love
4th - an online shop that sells thongs, beach gear (equivalent to rip curl etc) and copy Lorna Jane PT clothes
5th - a new aircraft construction company along the lines of the Icon A5... You can already place a deposit... Once we have 100 orders at $25k each, I'll let you know what your getting!!
I couldn't add the 6th cause I don't know enough about mining, but we could sell bottled rainwater from Tasmania! (Summer is coming)
Who wants to invest.... Get in early before you miss out... Share only $10 each... Limited tom1 million shares
Regards
Mark
