Trolls are only effective if you respond. It takes 2 to have an effect.
Pud
Sure, if you move into their world you become one of them. Non response is the biggest insult to them.

You want to see my thread on preflight checks-it goes to posts of a cat with buttered toast tied to it's back. Have a nice day. [try it]

Winsor, if you still have your finger over the report button, it would be getting tired by now:duck for cover:

I was hoping the thread would move on to a debate. I have digs of other a/c, in particular the Weedhopper which I think is a great a/c for price and design. However, if they coloured it silver and called it the "Silver Streak", it would come across as a more macho plane. With regard to the Jabiru engine, the main issue is the top end and it's frequent replacements which will probably never be solved. It costs about 6 grand to do the job say every 350 hrs which is 30 grand to get to a major overhaul at 1800 hrs. Rotax is supposed to get around 1200 hrs out of their heads and based on what I read in the forum are about two or three times expensive, and take about $30,000 to 1800 hrs as well. Then the cost of a complete overhaul of a Rotax would be more than a Jab. So cost wise the Jab engine should be cheaper to run, even if it requires more mainentance. Issues like breaking cyl head bolts is not rocket science to solve. Except for the Jab 1600 engine, I would consider one in an a/c that really appealed to me, addressing and repairing those issues like broken bolts and doing frequent leakdown tests. This conclusion is also based on availability of parts which is good for the Jab but going to be non existant for Rotax 447/503 which is in a lot of a/c that appeal to me.

Its simple, if you don't like Jabiru don't buy one, for christ sake just stop making digging remarks about products that some of us have poured our life savings into unless you have something constructive to say.......
I thought I was saying something constructive and a lot of constructive criticism has already been said. Now it's your turn to say something constructive-convince us doubters that a jab engine is something we should buy. Havn't heard much on the other side.

Yep plenty of research to support the fact that flashing a message faster than the brain can consciously register can influence what you may think next. I don't know how successful it has been in commercial enterprises, but certainly from a psychological perspective, you can be primed by information that you don't consciously recall having seen. Discreet brand placement in media is probably the best example of it's use but that is normally more than long enough to register, but discreet enought hat you don't really notice unless you look for it.
Yes, it cant work all the time. If "buy Jabiru engine" came up and put you in a trance, would you rush out to buy a Jab engine? Not even in a trance.

I heard of ads that appear for maybe 100th of a second. You read it without knowing it. It could say "buy Rotax" and the next thing you know you are standing glazy eyed next to your plane with a new Rotax in it.

KG said:I went to a Storm Financial seminar in 07. They were exhorting their customers to invest big as the market was going down. No money? No worries, take out an even bigger mortgage. I got up & told them it sounded more like a pyramid or ponzi scheme than financial advice to me. I nearly got kicked out but managed to stay long enough to eat the nice tucker they'd ordered & tell everyone else not to go near them with the proverbial.
I used to go to some of those things but eventually only went for the free feed. If you keep your mouth stuffed with their food you cant complain about their rip off tactics.

You are correct and very observant so I have edited my post.Alan.
That's ok, I'll get over it.

I have made one resolution each year and faithfully stuck to it.Quote. " I hereby resolve not to make any New Years Resolutions for this coming year"
Alan.
You just broke your resolution [caught by the catch 22]

am sure we all have some resolutions left over from last year that seam to stay on our list and keep rolling over and over each year...I know I do. But here are my New Year's Resolutions...what's yours?
1. Redo this site into an even more incredible resource for everyone
Put up a no holes barred [free from prosecution] gripe page so some more truths can come out.
2. Increase the user membership here by 20%
Besides having lot's of free give aways, as above
3. Lose 17kg to end up at 90kg
Do no. 6 yourself
4. 4. Go on a family holiday to Qld

5. Reduce Credit Card debt (remove wife...carry over resolution!)
Who cares-spend big now and deal with the finance collectors after you kick the bucket.
6. Fix the house up
You mean, knock down a few walls to build or hanger a plane.
7. FLY!
Do it as if there was no tomorrow

Big improvement from the first film made from bitumen and 8hr exposures. Glue a mobile phone to it and it becomes "a phone as well"

....or dehydrated water to save weight and space. Guess what you have to add to reconstitute the dehydrated water to the drinkable stuff?
....you got it: H2O![/quote
Dehydrated water must be very thick, like syrup and a strong taste.

In this health craze society why not "diet water"

Hype is what keeps many ideas and companies on the stock market going. Anyone remember ERG? Went from less than $3 to over $12 in less than a year, then plunged to a couple of cents.
-
I am getting most of that on this forum for nuttin.

That's step 1Step 2 - Go to jail - they already thought about you mining magnates
They don't go to jail. They just take over the goverment and oust the present leader at the same time bellowing financial ruin if the mining tax was implimented. Look again to see who is calling the shots. Same problem in America-O'bama dancing to the tune of financial institutions.

80kts, that looks like a sure fire scheme for any business. Principle of Adult.com is in the news for some of his schemes and I remember them.

Mark, it looks as if Sapphire has suggested a business plan for you below:
Get yourself a miners hat and form a $2 company. Enlist on the stock exchange where the value of each share would be about 2 cents. Between you and a trustworthy friend buy and sell shares to each other giving the image on the exchange that investors are clammering to buy into your company. Put out false announcements that a big strike is about to be made. Organize regular capital raisings promising big future returns. By now the value of the stock has gone up to maybe 10 cent. Now is the time to sell the shares you bought before at 2 cents. Let the dust settle and do the whole thing over again conning new "investors".
